Alma Vazquez is the Executive Assistant to MG Rick Noriega (Ret.), Chief Information Officer for
Harris County Universal Services. Prior to HCUS, Ms. Vazquez was the District Case
Worker and Senior Immigration Specialist for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX18).
In her previous role, Alma assisted constituents as a liaison for federal agencies
and participated in delegations about complex border issues affecting the state and the country.
Ms. Vazquez holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Houston
Downtown and is pursuing a master’s degree in public policy and administration from the
University of St. Thomas. She also holds a paralegal certificate from the
University of Houston Continuing and Professional Studies.
A first-generation American, Ms. Vazquez is the daughter of hardworking immigrants, was born
in the Rio Grande Valley and is now the mother of two civically engaged children.
She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston and is a proud resident of the
East End community.
