About Alyson

Ms. Medina is an associate attorney in the Houston office of Spalding Nichols Lamp Langlois with a broad federal and state litigation background spanning government investigations and enforcement, civil appeals, miscellaneous civil defense, and school law. Her practice is defined by a unique career path rooted in service, leadership, and advocacy.

Before entering the legal profession, Ms. Medina served in the Army Corps of Engineers branch of the Texas Army National Guard. Her distinguished service—which included local disaster rescue operations and training active-duty soldiers in bridge construction—earned her a Humanitarian Service Medal and the Texas Medal of Merit. Driven by that commitment to her community, Ms. Medina later transitioned to the classroom as a certified history teacher. This firsthand experience with the educational system, particularly in underserved schools, fueled her decision to pursue law with a focus on effecting meaningful change.

Ms. Medina’s academic accomplishments cover a similarly broad base. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Human Nutrition, with University Honors, from the University of Houston in 2018 where she served in various campus leadership roles. Ms. Medina then completed her Juris Doctor at South Texas College of Law Houston, graduating a semester ahead of her peers and with honors.

As a law student, Ms. Medina served as Vice President of the Veteran Law Students’ Association, winning “Campus Organization of the Year,” and participated twice in the U.S. Army JAG Corps’ Brigadier General Wayne E. Alley Military Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C. Her practical experience included clerking for the Honorable Judge Sonya Heath of Harris County’s 310th Family District Court; interning with both the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas National Security/Public Corruption Section and the U.S. Army JAG Corps in Kaiserslautern, Germany; and practicing as a student-attorney in a Medical-Legal Partnership clinic.

Outside the office, Ms. Medina can be found running 5Ks, traveling the world, or spending time with her wife, Melinda, and their dogs, Buddy and Bella. She lives out her commitment to volunteer service as the Alumnus Coach for STCL’s Military Moot Court team and a decade-long member of the Houston Marathon Committee.
